Hi Marty,

Sorry for the slow response I missed your comment when you originally posted it. I agree with you, as it stands I would also not have done this as the whole ecology things is missing and considering the presenting issue ecology has to be a high priority. I would like to thin that Tom did deal with it and left it out here for the clarity of the point he wanted to make.

Cheers

I think the ecology issue is possibly the most important. I use it in my work, state the word and explain what it means in the context (not the common understanding of the word ecology). I believe that by doing this, rapport is maintained. I'm not sure I'd do what this person did as it is described. It appears to be with a total stranger. Perhaps its a little high up the communication triangle that can expose vulnerability.

I almost agree with you. We are discussing tools and not necessarily the intent behind them. I can imagine many groups including Scientology using these techniques to ends that are not a win / win situation. The thing you might want to ask yourself though is how and where can I use this concept in a positive way that is both good for you and the person you are talking with.

Cheers

This is a method used by Scientology. They don't let you leave, they don't let you get their point across, and the practitioner does not accept any reasonable excuses. It's actually a concept called "be unreasonable" meaning don't let them reason you out of what you're trying to accomplish with the Scientology-guided dialogue.

The dangerous part about it is, you'll eventually lose the person, because they will snap out of it, or if you get a person who is on his toes, he will bitch slap you, figuratively speaking. It's an annoying technique.
