How You Can Agree with Everyone and Still Turn Them to Your View...

In this extract from The Persuasion Skills Black Book we are going to discuss an agreement frame. This pattern will allow you to attach conditions to whatever has been said before. Even to the point where you can attach the completely opposite view.

This pattern allows you to bypass the original comment and move the conversation on to agreement with you. I will even show you a super pattern combining the two patterns that is designed to completely move the conversation to exactly where you want it and gain agreement.

Agreement Frames

 

We are going to talk about an amazingly powerful pattern called an agreement frame. I agree that we should get on with the pattern and would add that a little discussion about how you say things will make a huge difference to the pattern working or not. So we are going to spend a few minutes discussing that first.

 

The failure or success of these patterns depends on your rapport with the subject and how you say the pattern. I’m not going to say much about this here because there is key information in The Persuasion Skills Black Book about this subject that we will look at in a few weeks.

Are you ready for this week’s pattern? I agree and that is why we are going to talk about pitch, pace and tone first. Most people speak too fast for real influencing power. To really reach the core of a person’s being you need to speak in slow, deep tones. This is not about saying one word having a pause before the next word…it is about slowing down how you say the words altogether. You will find recorded examples as well as exercises to practice this skill in A Beginner's Guide to Advanced Persuasion Patterns.

A Simple Practice Routine

Every morning in the bathroom spend a few minutes talking to yourself in the mirror. Practice these patterns out loud in a slow, deep voice. Really exaggerate, drawing the words out using your best Barry White voice. If you over compensate when you practice the chances are you will get it about right when you do this for real. Trust me, this will make the difference, great patterns delivered well get results. Agreement Frames Again

Anyway, let’s move into this week’s pattern, the agreement frame. This pattern works on the basis that people like to be agreed with. Often to the point that the words" I agree" are enough for them. Think about this for a moment. If I said I disagreed with you it would feel worse than if I said I agreed. In fact what I am agreeing or not agreeing with is almost irrelevant at this point. I agree, you might find this a little strange and what I would suggest you do is a little experiment. For the rest of the day in every conversation just randomly say “I agree” or “I disagree” with whatever statements are made by people.

My guess is that they will hallucinate what they think you are disagreeing / agreeing with and react accordingly. Whichever way you look at it they will react well to agreement and worse to disagreement without you ever qualifying what you are agreeing with or not.
