How to Have Not Have a Bad Day at Work

I think most people have the occasional bad day at work. If you are having more bad days than good there are some issues you will need to address. This article is about some ideas on addressing those issues.

The Curse of Sunday Evenings

I used to hate Sunday afternoons. It was when I would do all the weekend chores, iron all the shirts for next week and sit clock watching dreading Monday and the start of another week. If you have ever felt like that then here is an instant remedy for you.

When you have an “I Hate My Job day.”

Try this out:

Stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson. Be very sure you get this brand.
When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed. Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favourite chair. Open the package and remove the thermometer.
Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken.

Now the fun part begins.

Take out the literature from the box and read it carefully. You will notice that in small print there is a statement:

“Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested and then sanitized.”

Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times, “I am so glad I do not work in the thermometer quality control department at Johnson & Johnson.”

REMEMBER, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE WITH A JOB THAT IS MORE OF A PAIN IN THE BUTT THAN YOURS!

Remember, if you haven’t got a smile on your face and laughter in your heart….

Maybe you should go and work for Johnson and Johnson!

Old Jokes and a Real Message

Sadly, this is an urban myth but if you are having more bad days than good days at work perhaps now is the time to move on.

The trouble with that idea is sometimes being somewhere that you don’t like, doing things that you don’t enjoy sucks the energy out and sometimes people find it difficult to do the things they need to find a better position.

One thing I suggest to people is to get into a good state for every part of job hunting. No one will deny that going into an interview in a positive, motivated state will set a good impression. But I think it is just as important to be in a powerful state when you are writing your CV or Resume and when you are searching for jobs to apply for.

When you are not thinking well of yourself you are likely to miss possibilities and not necessarily go for things that you might on other occasions have a shot at.

An Emotion Frozen in Time

How you think about yourself will come through when you write your CV or Resume. Many people write their CVs and Resumes as just a list of things they have done. What turns these documents into interview pulling machines is using them to highlight what makes you the ideal candidate for the position that you are going for.
