A Beginner’s Guide to Advanced Language Patterns

A big area of NLP is all about how we use language from a hypnotic perspective. If you are already a practitioner or master practitioner you might have had the experience of learning all the jargons, forms and patterns and not really knowing how to put it together in a meaningful way.

The Four Keys to Language Patterns

There are four key secrets to making language patterns work. The first is having a clear outcome in mind. The second is about understanding the sequence of internal representations you want your subject to go through and the third is having a process to take them through it. I know this sounds a bit wooly but it is fairly straight forward once you have some examples to work through.

With this in mind, below is an email I sent out to my list of subscribers about a language pattern course. As part of the email I offered a free place on the course for the person that did the best linguistic analysis of the email. The winner’s response is also below.

John’s analysis is exceptionally good and he got about 80% of the patterns and processes that I used. He got most of the rest on the course, but I am keeping a few secrets for the master class.

If you have studied NLP have a read through the original email and see if you spot as much as John. If you haven’t studied NLP before go straight to John’s analysis and check out how much you can do with persuasive language. It may not all make sense if you don’t know the jargon but any good NLP practitioner will be able to take you through the little bits of jargon involved or feel free to phone my office for more information. And just remember these patterns are more effective and usable when speaking.

Once you have read through this you may be interested in attending this course. You will find the new and revamped version, with an extra day of material under The Beginner’s Guide to Advanced Language Patterns.

Enjoy

Free NLP Language Development - A Beginner’s Guide to Advanced Language Patterns

Hi All,
Several times recently a number of you have mentioned that you would like to be better at persuasive language techniques. The problem we face is that to get really good results means you need to go beyond NLP material,  start thinking of language  in terms of a process rather than the content of individual patterns and be prepared to practice in real environments. Whilst my practitioner course now goes a step further towards a solution there is much more that could be added. So, here’s a course for you along with two opportunities to go for free.

A Beginner’s Guide to Advanced Language Patterns

A weekend of fun and learning specifically around patterns of persuasion which will include:

  • Covertly installing and / or destroying beliefs, ideas and thinking processes. Not only controlling a person’s thoughts but how they are thinking them as well.
  • How to lock a person’s heart, body and soul into your product, service…or just into you. At the extreme, how to create cults and stalkers.
  • A future pace that is so powerful that the person will not be able to stop thinking about whatever you have put into their head.
  • A conversation management process that means you are more persuasive without having to think about it.

There is a lot more detail about specifically what you will get on this course in the attachment. You will also find some stuff about your applications, based on the course material if you can’t already imagine a 1001 uses for dangerously hypnotic and persuasive language.

As you can see from the brief points above this is very serious and powerful material. I know of only one other trainer in the world that is prepared to share this sort of material (Kendrick Cleveland) Some of what I will be delivering is added refinements and developments from his material.

Because these tools are so powerful, they can do much harm or great good, depending on the intent of the user. There is too much content to deliver for us to get bogged down in discussions of ethics, morality or definitions of manipulation during the workshop so you will be asked to sign up to a code of ethics before you attend this course. If you are uncomfortable about having this much persuasive power please don’t sign up for the weekend. If, however you have a desire to properly unlock your linguistic powers then have a read of the attachment before you make your decision.

As always I am really only interested in those who are creative, ambitious and really want to improve your skills. And I only want to supply courses that give you a great return on investment. So spend a few minutes thinking about the areas in your life where you want more influence. Work out what would be happening if you had this power and then how much value have you attached to getting there.

By now, you may already be understanding that this is going to be an expensive course. The fact of the matter is there is not another NLP trainer in the UK that has the skills, knowledge or courage to deliver this material. It is an area that I have studied and practiced for a whole number of years at some personal cost to me and those around me (Joe, Dave, Hope the nightmares have stopped now, and you are thinking about attending so you know he mechanics of what I was doing). And this is a whole two days of sharing that information with people that have enough foundation knowledge in place to understand it.

Have a look at what Kendrick would charge you just for his home study course and know that when I take this course to market properly I will be selling it at no less than £500. But, because this is the first one, I want to play to my home crowd and I know I can tap you for a good testimonial I have a good, one time only offer for this course. Also being aware that several of you are considering the Master Prac with me I will refund the whole price of this course if you book on my next Master Prac.

Finally, the second opportunity to come on the course for free. As you will have already recognised this email is packed full of a variety of patterns. The person that emails me the best linguistic analysis of this email will get to go on the course for free. (As a hint: there is a lot more than a few double spaced or bolded embedded commands and you will really need to start thinking about process, structure and sequences of internal representations).

Cheers

Hypnotic Language Analysis of a Direct Response Email

The Winner John Middleton (John’s comments are in blue)

Hi All,
Several times recently a number of you have mentioned that you would like to be better at persuasive language techniques.[This is an embedded command to instil a desire to be better]  The problem we face is that to get really good results means you need to go beyond NLP material [a suggestion that this course will give you something beyond NLP and by suggestion that it  is therefore better than NLP and standard NLP courses.  There is also the suggestion that course will give you really good results],  start thinking of language  in terms of a process rather than the content of individual patterns and be prepared to practice in real environments.[embedded command to start thinking about language in a new way and also a pre frame to ensure that the reader knows there will be work needed to get really good.  The use of the word real suggests again a higher level than the standard NLP course - this is Big Boys stuff]  Whilst my practitioner course now goes a step further towards a solution there is much more that could be added. So, here’s a course for you along with two opportunities to go for free. [An anticipation loop - everyone likes anything for free - it ensures that the reader will read the entire email and it may also capture some casual readers]

This paragraph is all about progression and by inference mastery.  From Beginner to Advanced.  There is a frame suggesting that it will be fun.  Each of the bullet point lines start with a normal statement that is then revved up to extremes instilling emotions of excitement and fascination in the reader.  You have presented scenarios for the reader to take and make their own - something you command them to do in the last lines of the next paragraph.

There is a lot more detail about specifically what you will get on this course [embedded command to get on the course] in the attachment. You will also find some stuff about your applications, based on the course material if you can’t already imagine a 1001 uses for dangerously hypnotic and persuasive language.
The rest of this paragraph builds on the bullet points of the last paragraph getting the reader to find his own reasons to get excited about the course.  The use of words such as “dangerous” suggests that course is the real thing and builds upon the real world theme from the first paragraph.

As you can see from the brief points above this is very serious and powerful material. I know of only one other trainer in the world that is prepared to share this sort of material (Kendrick Cleveland, www.maxpersuasion.com). Some of what I will be delivering is added refinements and developments from his material.
In this paragraph you continue on the  powerful and dangerous theme and tie yourself in to the most prominent persuasion master (Cleveland) in the world.  You then suggest that you are better than him - basically in this para you have taken care of the competition.

Because these tools are so powerful, they can do much harm or great good, depending on the intent of the user. There is too much content to deliver for us to get bogged down in discussions of ethics, morality or definitions of manipulation during the workshop so you will be asked to sign up to a code of ethics before you attend this course[embedded command]. If you are uncomfortable about having this much persuasive power please don’t sign up for the weekend.[embedded command] If, however you have a desire to properly unlock your linguistic powers then have a read of the attachment before you make your decision. [ 2 embedded commands here instructing the reader to desire and then act on that desire.  Again the dangerous and powerful theme is continued here keeping the up the excitement that has been created in previous lines]

In this paragraph you make the reader feel chosen and therefore elite.  You also use a cialdini pattern of giving something back - caring for the reader enough to want to give him something back - this is deliberately left blank to allow the reader to fill it in for himself but he has already been conditioned to do this in the last few paragraphs re the bullet points and the 1001 uses for hypnosis.  You also have an embedded command there - I suspect that you intention was to make the reader feel even more of an elite by managing to make it on the course but there is also a link back to the idea that he will have to work to get these skills and that he will value the journey involved in that.  You also have an embedded command in the paragraph instructing the reader to feel the need to have more influence.  You also tell the reader to think of areas where this can help him - he will already be doing this it is merely an explicit command carried over from the last few paragraphs.

By now,[embedded command] you may already be understanding that this is going to be an expensive course.
You are instructing the reader to buy the product/course and managing his expectations about price.  You are emphasising the cost to you and the fact that it is a special and therefore worth it by making it unique and again there is a hint of danger.  Again there is a feeling that you need to be skilled to some extent to do this course.  There is also deliberate targeting of 2 people in particular - this does 2 things - it appeals to the two people targeted giving them an embedded command that they will recognise and find humerous but will still  work and it also convinces other readers that these people have been affected by these skills that you will be teaching and that they actually work.  There is some history here and history makes things seem more real.

Carrying on with the Cleveland theme here and inferring that you are better than him.  You are also in effect telling the reader that he is special - that you have chosen him and are linking in the benefits of attending your master prac by adding value for the reader.   You are offering what in Direct Sales would be a “PS..” offer here - something for free if one takes up another opportunity that you are offering.

In this last paragraph you are hinting at what is in the rest of the email and making the casual reader who has got this far aware that there is more here than just simple language.  The chance to go for free is something that most people cannot resist.  You’ve also shut the loop that you started in the first paragraph.

Cheers

Rintu

This email essentially opens a number of loops, gives the reader benefit statements, commands him/her to find their own reasons to go on the course, provides them with commands and reasons to get excited and commands them to think how they would apply these skills.  Most readers having read this will have felt excitement and imagined the power that going on this course and learning these skills (and you make it quite clear that it will be hard work) will give them.  There is also the sense that they will be going beyond simple NLP and in to areas that only the elite know about!!!

As you can imagine it was a very powerful and exciting course for both the delegates and myself. John got his free place and was surprised at how much of the email he had missed. Feel free to pick up anymore and email me the extra bits that you spot. I will publish any good responses.

If you are interested in the all new, revamped version with an extra day of material you can find the course here.
